![]() ![]() Hit fn to show Expanded Control Strip instead of function keys In the same location as the last tip, choose App Region instead. Instead of showing the Expanded Control Strip, maybe you want to see the App Region more instead. Go back to the Keyboard menu in System Preferences, and where it allows you to alter what the “Touch Bar shows”. Then you can set the Touch Bar to exclusively show the Expanded Control Strip. Well, luckily you can set up the Expanded Control Strip to show all the old controls. If you aren’t a fan of the Touch Bar, it isn’t surprising that you would prefer to have the old options available all the time. Now anytime you are in that application, you will see the function keys instead of the App Region, or Control Strip. Choose the application you want to allocate the function keys to, and hit add. Select function keys from the list on the left, followed by the + button just below. Inside of system preferences, select keyboard, and choose the Shortcuts tab. It is simple to just always have the function keys show when you are in those apps. ![]() Perhaps, in 1-2 certain applications, you always use function keys. Simply hold down the fn key, located at the bottom left side of the keyboard, and the Touch Bar will be replaced with the traditional function keys. Just tap, hold, and drag on the brightness icon to increase or decrease your display brightness. Sure, your finger doesn’t align with the slider, but it is a quick and easy way to adjust the volume in one step.įun fact, the same thing that applies to quickly adjusting volume, also applies to adjusting brightness. Instead of tapping on the volume icon in the Touch Bar, and then moving the slider, you can actually tap, and hold on the icon, then start sliding. It gives you a good idea of what the Touch Bar will be like, without actually putting down the money on a new machine.
